Tradewind Aircraft Service Center, LLC, . has completed our first EFD1000 Primary Flight Display (PFD) installation for Mr. Harlan Gerardy.
The EFD1000 was installed in place of the existing air-driven Attitude Gyro, Directional Gyro, and GI-106A CDI.. The EFD1000 displays navigational steering information from the newly upgraded GNS 430W Navigation System and KX155 NAV/COM. The system can be coupled to the existing S-Tec 50 Autopilot System. The CDI Nav Source Select switch (GPS1, VLOC1, and VLOC2 annunciate) and the GPS alert annunciators; MSG, WPT, TERM, INTEG, and APPR are located within the EFD1000 display.
We also replaced the instrument panels with new ones cut and powdercoated by SAIRCORP, and the yokes were refurbished by SAIRCORP as well. Larry does an excellent job!! Check them out at http://www.saircorp.com
As required by the Aspen STC, the KI-209 CDI was relocated to the #2 NAV Indicator position located to the left of the airspeed Indicator and the Attitude Gyro was reinstalled as a backup, located to the left of the EFD1000 and below the CDI. The Turn and Bank was moved oto the left of the EFD1000.
Work was completed on the project November 10th, and after reconfiguring the autopilot, flew a flawless test flight. The EFD1000 is an affordable glass cockpit system that enables aircraft owners to upgrade their primary flight instrument "six pack" to a glass cockpit. The EFD1000 PFD is now available.
