Tradewind Aircraft Service Center, LLC, . has completed our second EFD1000 Primary Flight Display (PFD) installation for Mr. Knut Mjolhus.
We removed a Century II autopilot and installed an S-Tec System 30 autopilot.
The EFD1000 was installed in place of the existing air-driven Attitude Gyro, Directional Gyro, and GI-106A CDI.. The EFD1000 displays navigational steering information from the GNS 430W Navigation System and KX155 NAV/COM. The system can be coupled to the newly installed S-Tec System 30 autopilot . The CDI Nav Source Select switch (GPS1, VLOC1, and VLOC2 annunciate) and the GPS alert annunciators; MSG, WPT, TERM, INTEG, and APPR are located within the EFD1000 display.
We also installed an avionics cooling fan and a Hobbs meter while we were behind the panel.
As required by the Aspen STC, the KI-209 CDI was relocated to the left of the airspeed Indicator and the Attitude Gyro was reinstalled as a backup, located to the left of the EFD1000 and below the CDI.
Work was completed on the project December 20th, and flew a flawless test flight. The EFD1000 is an affordable glass cockpit system that enables aircraft owners to upgrade their primary flight instrument "six pack" to a glass cockpit. The EFD1000 PFD is now available.
